Effective Monday, June 15, 2026, Horse Racing Alberta (HRA) advises all horsemen and industry stakeholders that Directive 231-2026 has been suspended, and Directive 241-2026 will take effect and remain in effect until December 31, 2026.

This decision was made by the HRA Board of Directors following concerns raised by key stakeholders regarding the administrative burden created by Directive 231-2026. The revised Directive also better aligns with current industry standards across Canada while maintaining appropriate safeguards regarding race frequency for racehorses.

The Board determined that implementation of Directive 241-2026 was appropriate at this time in accordance with the provisions outlined under Policy No. RLP007.
