This policy presents expectations and procedures for the placement of stall signs indicating which horses are in to race for upcoming races.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the "Horses in to Race Stall Sign Policy" is to establish clear guidelines and procedures for the placement of stall signs. This policy aims to streamline operations, enhance security and veterinary responsibilities, and ensure the integrity of horse racing in Alberta.
PLACEMENT OF STALL SIGNS
- Stall signs indicate which horses are in to race for upcoming races. Signs shall be prominently displayed outside each horse's designated stall.
- Horses that are in to race, including also eligibles, must have a sign (Horse In To Race) posted on each stall door no later than 7:00 am on the day the horse is entered to race.
- The sign must remain attached to the stall until the horse leaves the stall to race.
- When a scratch has been approved by the Judges and Stewards, the sign may be removed.
- Trainers that are not in compliance with this policy will be subject to a monetary penalty.
MAINTENANCE OF STALL SIGNS
Stall signs shall be maintained in good condition throughout the race season, and any damage or deterioration shall be promptly addressed by taking the damaged sign to Horse Racing Alberta security.
ACCESSIBILITY OF STALL SIGNS
Stall signs shall be available from Horse Racing Alberta security and will be signed out to trainers or personnel representing the trainer. At the end of the season, stall signs must be returned to Horse Racing Alberta security.
EVALUATION
This In-To-Race stall sign Policy will be periodically reviewed and updated as needed to reflect industry standards, regulations, and improvements on best practices.
