Relaxation of HORSE RACING ALBERTA Thoroughbred Rule 214 t will be in effect for the 2026 Thoroughbred race season only.

Rule 214 t currently reads:

A licensed *jockey agent may, with respect to major thoroughbred *horse race *meetings, book engagements for

(a) not more than 2 jockeys and one apprentice jockey;
(b) not more than 2 apprentice jockeys and one jockey;
(c) with the permission of the *stewards board, 3 jockeys.

For 2026 race season, Jockey Agents will have

(a) not more than 4 jockeys and one apprentice jockey.

The relaxation of Rule 214 t is to accommodate those jockeys with the loss of racing in British Columbia for the 2026 race season only.
