Sunday afternoon features a nine dash harness racing card on tap at Northlands and I'm looking at Race 6 - the start of the Win 4 - for my 'Play of the Day'. Luxury Reigns, a four-year-old son of Northern Dynasty, from the Life Sign mare Positive Sign, is looking like a live 4-1 shot play against a group of NW $7,000 Lifetime (AB Sired $8,500) $7,000 Claimers. Owned, trained and driven by Cape Breton native Allan Tracey, this horse drops back down to the level where he posted two straight wins, at double digit odds, through the month of February. "He can leave like a shot and he's got some confidence now," says Tracey. "I've been very happy with the way he's come back this year and I'm hoping he just keeps improving." I'm sure caretaker and partner Shauna Hogean would be all smiles if she was to meet up with her boys in the winner's circle on Saturday. Best of luck folks! Look for the good early speed of 'Reigns' to have him right on the choo-choo from post position three. Toward his inside he's got the morning line favorite (2-1) Bronte (Bill Tainsh Jr) on the rail, with (3-1) Soul N Inspiration (Kelly Hoerdt) leaving from post two. I don't see either one of those horses posing much of a problem for Tracey and his ride early or even late in this mile. I'm actually looking at value plays in (6-1) # 7 K T Loudnproud (Brent Grundy) and (15-1) #5 Time Away (Brandon Campbell) to complete this triactor, so play along if you like the bigger prices. Can we hit the Win 4 this time? Let's give it a go: 3/37/145679/1 for $12 is cheap enough and looks fine to me. See you at the races! -copyright thehorses.com |
