The Saturday afternoon 'Play of the Day' at Northlands comes up in Race 7 and I'm going right back to driver Brent Grundy with another value play for a top-three finish. Rossridge Delucks starts off at 5-1 on the morning line and draws Post 3 in against a 'soft' group of $8,000 claimers that are non-winners of $11,000 lifetime. Owned by the Outback Stable and trained by Rick Schneider, 'Ross' has had the services of Grundy in the sulky twice before. His first steer aboard was a solid winning qualifier at Northlands in November of 2009 (2:00.4), with the second time Grundy angle not working out so well... a come from behind fifth place finish in December. Let's hope the third time is a charm for the pair. I like the odds and I like his chances. His final start of 2009 is where he showed the most during the fall meet here. A first-up gutsy effort for third, pacing in 2:00.3 with driver Gary Clark. If 'Ross' brings his 'A game' Saturday I believe he is the one to beat. Give him a shot! See you at the races! |
