A TV feature on Tajma Hall's remarkable career in Alberta has earned the John Hervey Award for excellence in harness racing broadcasting in North America.
“This was a very well produced and informative video for such a short piece,” judge G.D. Hieronymus said in a media release. “Creative videographer covers the horse as well as providing interesting angles and the audio recording and editing is exceptional with use of on-location sound of horse either at the farm or on the track at races. I enjoyed the trainer/driver Jean Francois Gagne narrating the story.”
An NBC feature from Hambletonian Day earned honourable mention. The Tajma Hall story aired during a live harness racing broadcast on CTV in August 2009. Mike Little (Whiteiron Productions) and Jeff Robillard (HRA) were executive producers of the feature. "We got a lot of co-operation from J.F. and Marjorie," said Robillard, regarding Tajma Hall's caretaking team. "We just told a good story."
This marks the second straight year Whiteiron Productions/HRA has earned the John Hervey Award. The announcement came today from the U.S. Harness Writers Association.
