The second-annual Canadian Derby Girls contest is underway.

Online voting at thehorses.com started this morning - and will last until Aug. 18. Miss Canadian Derby 2010 will be determined at a pageant on Aug. 19 - with 25% of their score coming from the online voting.

Calendar sales have also started today. Watch for the Miss Canadian Derby Girls calendar to be available in our online store at thehorses.com soon.

There are 15 girls in this year's competition. Included in the mix are two racehorse caretakers - Katie Graham and Jodi Loftus. Both girls come from the Alberta harness racing circuit.

The 2010 Canadian Derby - for a purse of $300,000, the richest race in Western Canada - is set for Aug. 21 at Northlands Park in Edmonton.
